Members of the Iraqi Group for Foreign Affairs met with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Dr. Barham Salih, to discuss several issues of mutual interest.
The meeting addressed the pivotal role of think tanks and research centers in supporting the work of the UNHCR. This support is achieved by providing specialized analysis and formulating research-based proposals and policies, assisting decision-makers in both governmental and non-governmental institutions to develop more effective responses to asylum and displacement issues.
For his part, the High Commissioner commended the efforts of the Iraqi Group for Foreign Affairs in bolstering Iraq’s regional and international presence, emphasizing the importance of “Track II Diplomacy” in fostering dialogue and building bridges of communication with international partners.
