A meeting was held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, between the delegation of the Iraqi Group for Foreign Affairs and the Royal Institute for Interfaith Studies, with the aim of enhancing cultural and academic cooperation between the two sides. The meeting discussed ways to enhance interfaith dialogue and contribute to spreading the culture of tolerance and acceptance among the various religious components in the region.
The meeting discussed several main topics, most notably developing joint research programs in the field of religious studies, enhancing academic exchange between the two institutions, and organizing academic workshops and seminars focusing on current religious and social issues in the region.
The Royal Institute expressed its welcome to expanding cooperation with the Iraqi Group, stressing the importance of partnership between intellectual institutions in the two countries to develop research that contributes to enhancing the values of peaceful coexistence in diverse societies.
For its part, the delegation of the Iraqi Group stressed the importance of meetings and communication in building sustainable professional and scientific relations between intellectual and academic institutions in the Arab world, noting that enhancing cooperation in the field of religious studies represents an essential step towards enhancing tolerance and combating extremism.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Renee Hattar, Director of the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies, and Dr. Amer Al-Hafi, Advisor to the Institute.
